Webinar "Supporting the Green and Digital Transitions in Education and Training: Greening the Future"
On December 12, 2024, EKA University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the European Digital Learning Network ETS (https://dlearn.eu/), hosted an inspiring webinar, "Supporting the Green and Digital Transitions in Education and Training: Greening the Future: Exploring Digital Green Education." This event was part of the DigitEdu 2024 project, focusing on innovative and sustainable approaches in education. We are thrilled to share the highlights and express gratitude to all speakers, participants, and listeners for making this event a success.
Webinar Highlights:
- The session began with an insightful introduction by Beatrice Del Nero, Dlearn project manager from Italy, presenting an overview of the DigitEdu 2024 project and its vision for advancing education in the digital and green domains.
- Reeza Hanselmann, International Coordinator of Education at the Foundation for Environmental Education, Denmark, shared the transformative role of online learning in fostering education for sustainable development in her presentation on "FEE Academy: Advancing Education for Sustainable Development through Online Learning."
- Dr. Tatjana Tambovceva from RTU Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management, Latvia, enlightened the audience on "The Role of Digital Transformation in Education for Sustainable Development," emphasizing innovative strategies to integrate sustainability in educational frameworks.
- Agnese Gaidelione, mentor at IEBER.LV LTD, Latvia, took us through practical "Sustainability Steps," showcasing real-world applications for greener education practices.
- Dr. Nellija Titova, researcher at EKA Scientific Institution, Latvia, highlighted collaborative initiatives in her presentation, "Sustainability Teaching and Training: Example of ERASMUS Strategic Partnership Naturally Sustainable Project."
- Lika Kiladze from the International Education and Development Academy, Georgia, inspired with her talk, "Digital Innovations in Social Entrepreneurship: Empowering Communities for a Greener Future," bridging sustainability and community development.
- Taira Sirvydaitė, from Klaipeda State College, Lithuania, shared valuable insights on "Fostering Students′ Soft Skills through Sustainable Approaches and Emerging Technologies," focusing on preparing students for future challenges.
The interactive session, moderated by Edgars Čerkovskis, EKA “Circular Economy and Social Entrepreneurship” program director, engaged participants in meaningful discussions on supporting the green and digital transitions in education and training. The event concluded with a dynamic Q&A and a wrap-up session, summarizing key takeaways.
