Visit of "UXiship" and "UnWaste" projects

 

From October 2 to 6, representatives from various Kazakhstan universities visited EKA University of Applied Sciences within the framework of the "UXiship" and "UnWaste" projects. During the visit, different "Train-the-Trainer" activities were organized throughout the week: lectures, discussions, demonstrations, a tour, as well as dinner.

The chairperson of the university board, Anna Saltikova, led a tour of the facilities to kick off the visit. After that, a meeting was held with the EKA administration and programme directors to discuss future cooperation opportunities.

The lectures and other activities for the participants of the "UnWaste" project were led by the assistant professor and director of the study programme "Circular Economy and Social Entrepreneurship," Edgars Cerkovskis, and lecturer Tatjana Tambovceva. On the other hand, participants in the "UXiship" project worked with the Vice-Rector for Science, Jeļena Titko, and the Head of Development of the Scientific Institution, Jevgenija Dehtjare.

The guests had the opportunity to try the circular economy classroom in virtual reality, which was developed in the VILESA project, "Development of a virtual learning space as a tool for developing students critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity skills in the context of COVID-19." The demonstration and testing were led by E. Cerkovskis and EKA lecturer Andrejs Birzgals. During the visit, a trip to the regional waste management center "Daibe" and the Nature and Technology Park "URDA" of SIA "ZAAO" was also organized.

Within the framework of the "UXiship" project, 14 representatives from the following Kazakhstan universities were visiting EKA: Almaty University of Management, Caspian University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh.Yessenov, and A. Baitursynov Kostanay Regional University. On the other hand, from the "UnWaste" project, 17 representatives from the following universities visited: A. Baitursynov Kostanay Regional University, Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University, and S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University.
